IRAD

IRAD is FEOR’s Research Institute in Radiation Oncology.
It organises, connects and supports research in this specialty, fostering the development of projects, collaboration and access to opportunities for SEOR researchers and members.

Who we are

IRAD was created to promote and structure research in radiation oncology within FEOR, providing its members with a framework designed to facilitate the development of scientific initiatives.

It is established as a multidisciplinary research structure, with a translational approach that integrates clinical and technological research, as well as the generation of real-world evidence, aimed at producing useful knowledge that can be applied in clinical practice.
IRAD acts as a connecting element between clinical practice, innovation and project development, facilitating the coordination of collaborative initiatives and access to funding and development opportunities for the research community linked to SEOR.

What we do

IRAD gives shape and continuity to research in radiation oncology by providing structure, technical support and connection with calls, projects and collaborative networks.
  • From idea to project
We work closely with researchers to transform ideas into well-defined projects with clear objectives, strategic alignment and technical feasibility.
  • Calls and funding
We identify relevant opportunities and help align proposals with the requirements of national and international calls.
  • Research Support Office — OAI
We provide SEOR members with specialised, accessible technical support for the preparation, review, submission and monitoring of projects, offering guidance tailored to each initiative.
  • Collaboration and networking
We facilitate connections between professionals, centres and specialties in order to activate collaborative and multicentre projects.
  • Development of scientific initiatives
We support the launch of initiatives linked to research activity, such as internal calls, project repositories and actions aimed at improving the preparation and development of proposals.

Strategic lines

IRAD’s strategic lines guide its activity towards the development of research that is more coordinated, collaborative and impactful in clinical practice.
  • Clinical trials and multicentre projects
Promotion of collaborative studies that make it possible to generate clinical evidence across different pathologies and treatment techniques.
  • Artificial intelligence applied to research
Incorporation of data analysis and artificial intelligence tools to improve the design, development and evaluation of projects.
  • Patient care and real-world evidence
We place the patient at the centre of all our activity, promoting studies aimed at improving quality of life, quality of care and health outcomes in real clinical practice settings.
  • Interdisciplinary collaboration
Joint work with other areas such as genomics, radiomics, medical physics and radioimmunotherapy to broaden the scope of research.Trabajo conjunto con otras áreas como genómica, radiómica, física médica o radioinmunoterapia para ampliar el alcance de la investigación.

How we work

IRAD works as a research support and coordination structure, facilitating connections between researchers, centres and organisations for the development of projects in radiation oncology.

Blocks:

  • Network of centres and clinical groups
We work through a network of radiation oncology departments, clinical groups and collaborators that make it possible to develop multicentre projects and share knowledge.
  • Scientific and technical coordination
We structure project development through coordination that integrates scientific, operational and strategic criteria, ensuring consistency and quality.
  • Connection with calls and funding
We align initiatives with funding opportunities, facilitating their fit within national and international programmes.
  • Collaboration with organisations and the wider ecosystem
We maintain active relationships with scientific institutions, public bodies, foundations and companies in order to generate synergies and new research opportunities.
  • Governance, rigour and scientific excellence
IRAD works with a governance model designed to ensure scientific rigour, methodological quality and consistency in project development, incorporating mechanisms for coordination, review and monitoring.

Governing Board and Team

IRAD is supported by a management, coordination and scientific participation structure made up of professionals with a strong research track record and experience in launching and developing initiatives in radiation oncology.
